Why setting goals are a MUST
Goal setting is one of those things we know we should do but never really get round to, it always seems like we could be doing something more important at the time, like surfing around for a cheaper deal on your car insurance, or checking out prices on a particular car or holiday that you want to be able to have “one day”, we end up putting goal setting on the back burner, dismissing it as something we're meant to do, but isn't actually important.
I'm the same, the idea of having goals in my business or personal life seemed a little pointless, what's the point of setting a target to hit when the majority of the time you'll miss it anyways, that's not good for morale right? It's only recently I realised just how wrong I was.
Setting targets is not only important, it's CRUCIAL to a business' success. You'll find you'll grow much faster if you actually know what needs to be done.
This is what I've been doing this week, let me walk you through the exact steps I went through
- Set a date a month from now and think about it, this time next month what would you like to have accomplished in your business? Is it releasing a new product? Having 10 new affiliates on board? Growing your email list by 500? Whatever it may be write it down.
- Once you've written those down, write down exactly what you need to do to achieve that, if we use the example of recruiting 10 affiliate partners, you may need to contact 50 people to get 10 to agree, write down exactly who you'd like to have on board.
- Break down your monthly target into weekly, what would you like to accomplish in the next 7 days? If one of your goals was to release a product, in week 1 you may want to brainstorm ideas, in week 2 you begin filming the videos, week 3 you write the copy and so on
- Of course the number of goals will differ for each individual depending on whether they are still working full time, have family commitments etc, so tailor your targets to work for you.
For this month I have 4 main areas to concentrate on; product creation, email marketing, list building and expanding my marketing knowledge. So let me break that down:
Product creation: I've always shyed away from creating products as I didn't particularly enjoy it, I tend to get really nervous in videos and start stuttering, so I end up having to re-record each video around 10+ times (no joke), also I absolutely hate writing copy, I actually hate writing in general, but I'm not exactly the world's best copywriter so it's a struggle, however, I have created 2 products in the past that have had awesome feedback, which has definitely encouraged me to create more, plus it's a much better start to the relationship with your subscribers than with just a freebie
Email Marketing – By this I mean sending emails to my list, this involves things like writing blog posts (like this one), figuring out how to better my relationship with my subscribers, working on subject lines to get me emails opened and persuasive copy that'll get people taking action etc
List building – So this involves traffic strategies to my keyword, so if I have a target of growing my subscriber list by 500 in a month, I'll break it down to exactly how I'll get the optins, so I may dedicate 1 hour on forum marketing in hopes of it getting me X amount of subscribers and so on
Marketing knowledge – In this industry you should always be learning, so I like to invest a certain amount of time in learning, most commonly through books from Amazon and online courses I purchased, at the moment I'm reading a book called Predictably Irrational by Dan Airley, it's a pretty awesome book, I think it should be a mandatory read for all marketers.
Do you make goals each month? If so what? If not what do you plan to do? Please leave your comments below, I'd love to hear from you
Why you shouldn’t reinvent the wheel
There always comes a time in an entrepreneurs life when we believe that we've come up with the most innovative invention, something that nobody has ever thought of before, an idea that'll probably make us millions.
But what we don't realise is that with over 6 billion people in the world, chances are we aren't the only person in the world to have thought of this idea, as a matter of fact, many people may have already tried and failed at materializing the concept.
Does that mean we shouldn't ever try anything new? No, that's not at all what I'm saying, creativity and innovation is what makes the world go round, but the best, most effective way to use this creativity is to apply it to a concept that has already itself to work.
What that translates to in an online information marketing business is to go into a niche that has already proven itself to be a viable market, and then put your own creative twist on it.
Although it would be awesome to be a pioneer in a market, the chances are somebody has already tried and failed before, your chances of success automatically drop significantly.
Success leaves clues, and with the internet it's much easier to figure what's working and what isn't than any time before this.
The fastest way to make money online, or in any type of business is to model what is working and learn from other's mistakes to reduce making your own.
Chances are there are a ton of more experienced marketers that have attempted what you hope to accomplish, the key is to research their efforts extensively, and monitor what worked for them and what didn't, this is absolutely imperative. I don't know of any other strategy that will shortcut the trial and error process and help you to start making money online more than this – SERIOUSLY
“But what about the creative types who just have to innovate?”
I don't have a creative bone in my body, which is why I really admire folks who can think out of the box and create a concept that's completely new and unique, however, if you are only just starting out online, I would highly recommend that at least for your initial project you model what's already working first before exploring other niches, this will allow you to see positive results quicker and help you gain experience before going down a path which is not proven to be a success. One of the key reasons why this is so crucial is because if your first project is unsuccessful, this will demotivate you a lot and may put you off continuing your online career
In short, the quickest way to become an online success is to model a concept that's already working, once you are able to get things up and running and start making money from it, then by all means put your own creative spin on things

5 ways not to be a sleazy marketer
I've joined a bunch of marketing emails lately to see what others are doing and quite frankly, a lot of what I saw was SHOCKING to say the least, there were many tactics that ticked me off as a subscriber and made me shake my head as a marketer and I wanted to share them with you, my friends and subscribers, so that you don't make the same mistakes and so you can have a list that's really cool to you, love hearing from you and make you a whole bunch of money, so here they are:
1. Have your readers best interest at heart – This is important, do not just pitch based on EPCs (earnings per click), investigate any product before promoting, purchase it if you can, review the product and make sure it's useful content that will help your subscriber reach their end goal, these one click software scams convert awesomely, but they won't make your subscribers any money, if you recommend it and they buy, they'll not only lose faith in that product, but your recommendations also.
2. Don't pitch in every email – If you follow the first point and have your subscriber's best interest at heart, then it's important that the subscriber knows that, providing great valuable content to your readers will show them that you're not just all about the money. Try and think of the type of list that you'd like to be on, for me personally it's being on a person's list that not only provides great content, but also cares about my success and will only recommend products that they know are good – this is critical.
3. Email your list 3-4 times a week – This is something I really need to get myself to stick to, I get so caught up in other tasks that I sometimes completely forget to mail you guys for weeks on end, but this is something I definitely plan to work on, however, don't go to the other extreme either where you send 3 pitch emails a day promoting different products, I've seen many marketers do this and their conversion rates flat out SUCK! Not to mention high rates of people unsubscribing that they worked so hard to get, doing this just proves that you don't actually care about their success like they deserve, and it's all about short term profits for you.
4. Your email list is made up of people, not just numbers – So treat them like it, interact with them, read and reply to emails, this will surely strengthen your bond with your prospects and will be mutually beneficial.
5. NEVER use shady, misleading subject links - “Clickbank receipt #389293”, “Your order has been shipped”, “your free download is ready” - These may all get you a high open rates, but at the cost of losing your credibility with your subscriber, nobody likes being tricked, or made to feel stupid for believing something, so don't do it.
I hope this helps you in your marketing, nobody likes a snake oil salespeople and quite frankly this is no way to build a long term sustaining business that will earn you lifetime customers
Do you disagree? Is there another point you feel that should be added to the list? Leave your comments below, I'd love to hear from you
How to add 50 buyers on to your list in 15 minutes without selling a thing
Ok guys, so as promised, I gotta tell you about this super cool traffic strategy I've been using, when you hear it, you'll kick yourself for not trying it sooner.
I've never heard anyone teach this strategy before, and it's something I'd happily pay for, but I'd like to give this to you for free to say thanks for being a subscriber.
If you purchased my list building momentum course, you would have heard me talk about how powerful buyer leads are. Whether they bought your product or someone else's (generally speaking, someone who bought your product is more valuable than someone who bought someone else's), if they've proved they have a credit card, and showed interest with their money in you niche, they are worth at least 10 times more than those who just entered their email address.
Within my course I showed a couple of strategies on how to get buyer leads who bought yours or someone else's product, but at the time I hadn't tried or even heard of the strategy I'm about to tell you.
Many products offer a variety of bonuses, be it another course, a piece of software or a private forum. The one I want to talk to you about today is the product that offers a forum.
I was recently given a review copy of a product in a niche market and I was checking it out to see if it was worth promoting to my niche.
A bonus to this product was a private forum, I signed up, posted on a few threads and the results surprised me. For each post I was a getting about 5 people sign up to my list. The best part was that they were BUYER leads, remember, I said buyer leads are worth 10x more than freebie seekers, so just by making 10 posts, I got 50 new people onto my list that would provide the same results as getting 500 freebie seekers.
Can you see how powerful this is?
Think about it.
1. These people only have access to the forum by getting their credit card out
2. They are clearly passionate about the market as they are posting on discussion forums about their topic
3. This tactic is more powerful than posting on free forum as there are less people, so your post will stick around for longer
4. People who are irrationally passionate about a topic don't just buy one thing and stop (case in point, this weekend alone I have spent well over $100 on consumable weight loss supplements mentioned in Tim Ferriss's book 'The 4 hour body' – Which is what I'm currently reading, if you haven't picked it up, I'd highly recommend it)
I hope you can see how powerful this method is, it may cost you some money to get in (if I wasn't given a free copy it would have cost me $37), but it's an investment well worth it, if you don't know much about forum marketing or need some extra tips, then I have an awesome product (well I guess I'm biased, but the feedback has been amazing) that talks how about how to build your list on forums as well as 7 other tactics in my list building momentum course.
Guys put this into action and explode your list building efforts!

How NOT To Get Scammed
Hey guys, this blog post is coming out of sheer frustration with all the bullshit products on the market right now, specifically floating around Clickbank, whilst I don't want to name names, some of these products are nothing short of absolute scams, and it wouldn't be fair if I don't warn my friends and subscribers on my email list.
In the past 30 days I've seen at least 3 scammy products being launched on Clickbank, 2 of which I hear Clickbank actually shut down due to unacceptably high refund rates (if you're gonna outright LIE in your sales video, what do you expect). To protect yourself from stuff like this, I highly recommend you read and follow the 4 steps outlined below.
This blog post isn't going to make me any friends in the IM industry, but it's more important to me that you guys don't fall for it.
- There is no big easy button – If the product is offering you some secret loophole OR claims to have inside information from a source from a large corporation such as Google OR it's a 3 click software that'll allow you to quit your job, retire and move to the beach, then run the other way as fast as you can. Come on guys, I know you're smarter than that, these people clearly don't make money doing internet marketing just selling products that don't work on it.
- Research the reputation of the Author – If you've bought another product created by the same person and were happy, then great, do it again, if not, do some research, type their name into the search bar at the Warrior Forum and see what people say about the vendor. Marketers with good reputations will do everything they can to keep it that way, they wouldn't risk it by selling dodgy products, that'll not only lose them customers, but affiliates too.
- Only Buy From People You Trust – In this case I mean recommendations of affiliates. I personally review every single product before deciding whether I'd like to recommend it or not, after all, it's my neck on the line when I recommend stuff, and if it were up to me my subscribers would only be exposed to systems that actually work and make money, but I know that if you're on my list, you're on multiple lists and unfortunately not everyone else thinks like that. Do yourself a favour, if a marketer recommends you a product that doesn't fit the above criteria – UNSUBSCRIBE! Clearly they don't have your best interests at heart, and there are many other GOOD marketers out there that do – find them, they're the ones that'll help you take your business to the next level
- Remember This is a Business – This one is a biggy, if you truly want to quit your job and become a full time marketer, then you want to build a business, build an asset, not just an income – Don't fall for get rich quick scams, they'll only leave you disappointed. Build an asset such as a list or a membership site that you can rely on for months and years to come.
I really hope that this helps you guys, and remember, the internet marketing is real and possible, don't let dodgy marketers steer you in the wrong directions
What do you guys think of these products, I'd love to hear from you, please leave a comment below

My Time Management Case Study (Part 2)
Ok, so as promised, here is part 2 of my time management case study, if you haven't already read part one, I highly recommend that's where you begin, you can find that here.
So after 8 days of putting my time management experiment into action, I can tell you that it's highly affective, I've found that I'm getting more done and at a timely manner, I haven't been able to use those principles everyday, but like anything, it's going to take time to get used to, especially if you have a PhD in procrastination like me, but it's well worth a try.
There are 2 really important lessons I've learned from all of this, this first is that Parkinson's law is a real thing, and impacts everything you do. A quick recap – Parkinson's law is the theory that states that any task you do will last as long as the duration you set yourself, so to put that into context, if I gave myself 3 months to create a product, it would most likely take me 3 months one way or another, whereas if my life depended on getting that same product completed in 3 days, I would somehow find the time to get that done.
As entrepreneurs it's crucial that we use this law to our advantage to get things done. For me it was really off putting to constrain myself in these small boxes of time, it's much more pleasant to work at your own pace, but at the end of the day, this is a business, and if you want make it a success you have to get serious.
The second thing I've learned is the power of commitment, if you remember, in the last blog post, I promised you guys I'd follow up with you this week, had I not written that, I probably wouldn't be sitting here typing this right now, but I made myself accountable to take the action my announcing it to my whole list, this is something I may do more often, because it makes you actually stick to getting things done.
Take a second and just think about how powerful this is, it can be applied to anything, you could go to JV partners and tell them that you have a product coming out on March 15th and you'd like them to promote it, this is a commitment you've now made, so you've got no choice but to have the product ready by that time, isn't it crazy how when some NEEDS to be done, we find the time?
I want you to really think about this in terms of not only your business, but your life, what things have you wanted to do, but really put off doing, maybe losing weight, making the effort to go and see a family member that you know you should, but it's been a while, whatever the case, but it's absolutely crucial to do in your business, and something that I'm leaning more and more towards.
In summary, for me the experiment of time boxing was a success whenever I applied it, however, I found it pretty difficult to apply it all the time, but it's only been a week, and I'm not planning to give up on it yet, because the days I did put this in action, I not only got the most done, but I also felt the happiest. I know that sounds kind of woo woo, but I was not only truly satisfied with what I had achieved, but I was able to able to actually switch off from my business in the evenings and allow myself to go and do activities that I enjoy such as swimming without feeling guilty that I should be working. This is enough to motivate me to make this a habit rather than something I need to remind myself to do.
I'm interested to know, did you follow along with me? If so, please leave a comment below and let me know how it went.
Also, if there is something that you know you need to do, be it in your business or you personal life, then please feel free to make a commitment in the comment box below, sometimes just writing it down and sharing it with others is enough to get your butt in to gear
My Time Management Case Study (Part 1)
Ok, so here's the thing, I'm probably the most unproductive person you know, I'm definitely the least productive person I know and I'm ready to do something about it.
Productivity is everything in this business, once you have a proven blueprint to follow, it's more or less the only thing that stands in your way in terms of whether you have success next week or in 3 months.
But here's the thing, before you can go about changing this, you need to really understand why you are unproductive in the first place, and I know why it is for me.
Parkinson's Law
If you've read the book 'The 4 Hour Work Week' by Tim Ferriss (for those of you who haven't, this is compulsory reading, I actually read it before I even knew what internet marketing was and loved it), you may be familiar with the Parkinson's Law. This is basically a theory that suggests that whatever duration of time you allot to a particular task, it will somehow manage to take that long, so let's say for example, if I gave myself 2 hours to write this blog post, I probably would find a way for it to take 2 hours by doing unproductive tasks such as researching on the internet for more productivity laws, going to get a glass of water and so on, however, I've only allowed myself 25 minutes to write this post (and I'm timing it too, more on that later though), so I'm confident that I'll be much more productive doing so.
However this is where folks usually trip up, myself included. Most people wouldn't even give themselves the 2 hour time restraint, they'd probably sit down and think “I'm gonna write a blog post” and 3 hours go by and they've written about 200 words, checked their email twice and written on 3 people's Facebook walls. If you want to be successful and still have a healthy work/life balance, then you really need to start being stricter yourself and setting measurable targets for each business (and possibly also personal if you want to go that way) task that you do.
I'm a full time Internet Marketer, and I sit in front of my computer for an insane amount of time each and every day, but if I think about it at the end of each day, I really don't get all that much done, don't get me wrong, I don't sit around doing nothing all day, but what I actually get done in terms of the time I invest is ridiculous.
Now today is the day where things are going to change, I plan to become incredibly productive and I invite you on the journey to do the same.
My plan over the next week is to work only 4 hours per day, these 4 hours will be divided into 2 chunks of 2 hours and within those 2 hours I'll be working in 50 minute blocks of uninterrupted time (with a 10 minute break at the end of each to relax, go get water etc), also to be extra strict with myself in terms of those 50 minutes, I bought this timer from eBay and will be using it for each task here on out, I paid around $8 including postage for it, no doubt you can find it cheaper elsewhere.
So from now own, this is what my day will look like:
9 – 10 Exercise
10 – 12 My first time block that will accommodate the first of my tasks ( in today's case it's writing this blog post and then learning how to use a SEO software I bought about a month ago and still haven't gotten around to reading the instruction manual for).
(side note, my 25 minutes are up, but I'm going to finish this blog post as I was nearly done anyways, perhaps next time I should give myself 30 or 35 minutes to do this as I am not a strong writer at all, but hopefully that'll change over time)
12 – 2 Have lunch and relax, in this time I'm not going to do anything business related at all, in fact today I'll probably catch up on Desperate Housewives
2 – 4 Complete my second block of work which is submit some articles to some blog networks and keyword research for my niche sites
As for the rest of the day, I have no idea, but I'm seriously excited at the prospect of having the rest of the day to myself without feeling guilty that I should be working.
Although with this plan I'll be working a lot less than I usually do, I'll be accomplishing more or less the same amount.
I don't know how you are as far as productivity goes, but if you feel it could use some work, then I highly encourage you to do this experiment with me, I'll be updating you next week in part 2 as to how it's going.
Please do leave a comment below and let me know what you think, I'd love to hear about what you think of my plan and whether you're intending to do the same too

Why You Need To Start Building A List IMMEDIATELY
There's no point in me telling you that the money is in the list, no doubt you've heard that line many times before, but have you ever thought about why list building is so crucial for your online success?
We all know that prospects need seven points of contact with a product or a service, now think about this in terms of the real world, if you go to rent a DVD, it's very unlikely that you'll pick up one you've never heard of. However, if there's a movie there that you recognise the name of, have seen commercials and billboards, you're much more likely to rent this out than any one you aren't familiar with. The same concept applies with information products being sold online, it is very very rare that someone would purchase a product on the first point of contact, they need more exposure to the product before coming to a decision, and an email list can allow you to do that
What's more is that it's much easier to sell to a person who has either bought from you before or has an existing relationship with you than just simply to cold traffic, an email list allows you to show your personality and is the ONLY way for you to actually build that bond with your customers in the first place, you can't do this with SEO, article marketing, PPC, or any other form of traffic.
The most expensive cost in business is to acquire a new customer, with that in mind you really need to maximise the customers and leads that you already have as much as possible, back in the day marketers would do this by sending out direct mail, which would cost hundreds if not thousands of dollars, but as internet marketers, we have the luxury of being able to do this for free, other than the cost of your autoresponder of course.
I don't think I've ever heard of a product launch other than through email, now I may have heard of it through a forum, but chances are the person who posted about it heard about it through email. I truly believe that the majority of these launches would not be even HALF as successful as they are now if it wasn't for people promoting through their email list, that's something to seriously think about.
An email list is an ASSET, tomorrow Google could slap your adwords account or change their algorithm and have your site go from number 1 to number 47, but no one can ever take your subscribers away from you, and if you're planning to quit your job and become a marketer full time, then you really need something stable and secure to fall back on, and an email list can give you that.
If you're not already building an email list, I'd highly highly recommend that you start today. If you look at all of the multi millionaires in our industry and drill down to the cause of their success, you'll find that their email list plays a significant role
